Sparkle Market in East Palestine Named as One of the Best Grocery Stores in Ohio

East Palestine’s own Sparkle Market is more than just a grocery store – it’s a pillar of the community. This year, that commitment was recognized in a big way as owner Joe Rosak was named the 2025 Pinnacle Award recipient presented by the Ohio Grocers Association (OGA) along with the Ohio House of Representatives.

The Pinnacle Award is one of the highest honors given to independent grocers in Ohio, recognizing outstanding leadership, innovation and dedication to community service. OGA President Kristin Mullins highlighted Rosak’s unwavering support during the 2023 Norfolk Southern train derailment as a key reason for his recognition.

“Joe is such a great operator, and he did so much for the community during the derailment. We just thought it was time to recognize his commitment to the community by staying,” Mullins said.

Despite the unexpected honor, Rosak remains humble, crediting his employees and the support of the East Palestine community for Sparkle Market’s continued success.

“I really feel that this award belongs to my staff here and at all of my locations. Without their dedication, none of this would be possible. And we have an amazing community that continues to stand by us,” Rosak shared.

The award will be officially presented to Rosak on April 5 at the Ohio Grocers Association’s annual event and is a testament to the power of community and the role that local businesses play in keeping small towns strong. All Sparkle Markets are locally owned and operated by independent operators. Congratulations to Joe Rosak and the entire Sparkle Market team on this well-deserved honor!
