Historic Site Receives Upgrades to Preserve Its Legacy for Future Generations
The Village of East Palestine is pleased to share updates on the ongoing improvements at Glenview Cemetery, a historic landmark that has served the community since 1880. Located at 335 S. Market Street, Glenview stands as one of East Palestine’s most cherished sites – a place of remembrance, reflection and local heritage.

Thanks to the leadership of Karen Gorby, who has been instrumental in moving these efforts forward, and the generous support of the East Palestine Community Foundation and the East Palestine Eagles, the village has begun a series of restoration and improvement projects designed to protect and enhance the cemetery for years to come.
Recent work has focused on preserving and beautifying the cemetery’s entrance. Crews completed a repointing of the front entranceway giving visitors a refreshed and welcoming f irst impression. Inside the chapel, the flooring has been replaced and a vapor barrier installed, ensuring a more stable foundation and long-term protection from moisture. The chapel exterior has also been resealed and repainted to guard against weather damage. Additionally, the Street Department has completed the installation of a French drain along the outside of the chapel to help reduce water intrusion.
Starting in late October, attention will turn to the mausoleum, which will undergo repointing to maintain its structural integrity. Looking ahead, future improvements include repairing downspouts around the chapel exterior, as well as adding new chapel signage to complement the updated entrance.
Village manager Antonio Diaz-Guy expressed deep appreciation for the combined efforts behind these projects, “Operating and maintaining a cemetery is a costly, but necessary, responsibility of the Village. With the help of local volunteers, our own village staff and the generosity of those who take their time and resources to support the cause, I have no doubt that we can continue to invest in our town’s most cherished assets.”
