The East Palestine Community Improvement Corporation (EPCIC) seeks a volunteer interested in serving on its board of directors.
The EPCIC is a non-profit corporation created by the Village of East Palestine to lead economic development efforts for the community. The EPCIC is governed by a five-member board of directors who must either live or work in the Village of East Palestine. Citizens with a background in business, finance, marketing, construction, non-profit management, or civic engagement are encouraged to apply. Most importantly, the EPCIC is seeking someone with a passion to move East Palestine forward, a willingness to jump in to help when needed, and leadership skills to help unite the East Palestine Community for positive action.
The EPCIC has been meeting for about six months. The focus of EPCIC activities will be positive messaging and promoting the economic recovery (such as through EPOhio.org), promoting downtown revitalization, and developing locations for business growth. One of the first tasks will be helping the Village to repurpose the historic freight depot.
Current members include Chris Page, CEO of Threshold Residential Services; Tom Brittain of Brittain Motors; Dr. Jessica Rocco of a Well Adjusted Chiropractic & Wellness and Village Council Member; Linda May of Village Council; and Tommy Povenski of Tapco and a Village Council member. Mr. Povenski will be stepping off the EPCIC to devote more time to his business and young family, so a replacement for him is being sought.
Members are appointed to three-year term and serve as unpaid volunteers. The EPCIC meets monthly at 10:00 a.m. on the last Tuesday of the month. There is typically some work required between meetings.
Anyone interested in serving should please send a letter of interest with a brief biographical information to m.martin@eastpalestine-oh.gov by Friday September 20, 2024.
